The new Backup Plus Slim is compact enough to fit into the front pocket of a men’s shirt, store 2TB of data, and comes in at just $60. Its slightly heftier sibling, the $110 Backup Plus that the company sent me, is thicker and weighs a bit more – but manages a whopping 5TB in its relatively diminutive form factor. And they both work with Windows or Mac right out of the box....

Grant Thornton New Zealand published its first liquidators report earlier today which outlined that creditors are owed a total of $2.78 million. Staff are also owed $384,000 for unpaid salaries, holiday pay, and other unclaimed expenses. Creditors fall into one of two categories, secured or unsecured. There are two secured creditors affected by Cryptopia’s collapse, Dell New Zealand Ltd and Coca-Cola Amatil (NZ) Ltd. These companies are owed a total of $912,000....

Edward Snowden doesn’t think so. The former CIA contractor, whose leaks exposed the scale of spying programs in the US, warns that once this tech is taken out of the box, it will be hard to put it back. “When we see emergency measures passed, particularly today, they tend to be sticky,” Snowden said in an interview with the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival. Supporters of the draconian measures argue that normal rules are not enough during a pandemic and that the long-term risks can be addressed once the outbreak is contained....

Criminals made more than $675,855 (€600,000) and laundered more than $891,250 (€1,000,000), according to local media reports. Most of those arrested hailed from Spain, Nigeria, Cameroon, Morocco, and Equatorial Guinea. The criminals defrauded 210 victims in Spain, and a further 20 in Israel, Denmark, Germany, France, and Greece. The world’s ‘fastest all-electric’ passenger ferry is set to launch on Stockholm’s waterways in 2022, as part of a joint pilot between Swedish boat-maker Candela and the Swedish Transport Administration. The 30-passenger ferries will shuttle passengers to and from the city’s islands at speeds up to 30 knots (55 km/h), with the intention of eventually replacing the city’s fleet of 60 diesel boats that serve commuters and tourists to and from the vast archipelago that stretches from the city center....

It started a revolution in the digital film distribution, and once upon a time you could find just about anything you wanted on it (particularly when its DVD business was more of a cornerstone than it now is). The Swiss government is preparing the exact requirements of the new legislation and although nothing has been decided yet, a ban on the production, distribution and sale of any games deemed to be unsuitable is highly probable. The Swiss National Council first outlined the proposals only a month ago, and now has passed a law that will ban all violent video games in the country. The original proposal aimed to the ban on any title that “requires cruel acts of violence against humans and humanlike creatures for in-game success”....

It hasn’t even been 24 hours yet, and the job description for a customer service post at Tesla has been changed to now omit any mention of them being required to fight messages leveled at Musk. Police authorities in the UK have said that by using the supposedly self-driving system, the illicit Autopilot tester is breaking the law, local news reports. The driver in question enabled Autopilot and put it through its paces on what’s known as the Magic Roundabout in Swindon, England. Unlike the Series 6, it features Apple’s older S5 chip. It features most of the same tracking capabilities as its more expensive sibling, sans the fancy new blood oxygen sensor and ECG.
