Although this is visually inobtrusive, these scripts inevitably result in performance slowdowns and reduced battery life for mobile users. Experts from SonicWall estimate over 52.7 million visits to cryptojacker-infected websites were made during the first six months of 2019. In addition, starting from today, Firefox will automatically block third-party tracking cookies....

Matjaz Skorjanc’s arrest was made over US charges that he, along with several other hackers, is responsible for stealing millions of dollars. Skorjanc was reportedly detained on Monday, reports 24UR.com, a Slovenian news site. He is wanted in the US for setting up and operating Darkode, a black marketplace that operated between 2008 and 2013. d Europol once described it as “the most prolific English-speaking cybercriminal forum to date.” Skorjanc is also wanted for creating and deploying Mariposa, one of the largest known botnets....

The game appears to be Nintendo’s attempt to cash in on the Match-3 puzzle genre — sort of like Candy Crush Saga, if that game made me a little less hungry for gummy bears. Research commissioned by Ordnance Survey revealed that sustainability projects are an increasing area of focus for software developers. Well, Envision Group has made it happen, and the firm says we will see its new device on the streets in June 2021. Last week, the Chinese green tech company launched what it claims to be the word’s first mass-produced charging robot, powered by 100% green electricity. “Mochi”, as it’s called, uses Envision Group’s EnOSTM intelligent operating system, which connects and manages over 200GW of renewable energy assets worldwide. Envision sees Mochi increasing flexibility for the growing user base of EVs in Asia, and especially in China....

Further investigation found that the Chinese manufacturer possibly has a list of apps whose performance is limited, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat. Surprisingly, AndandTech’s report found OnePlus’ own apps in this list. The subreddit’s moderator team has announced it’s temporarily banning all race charts until the hype has cooled off. “The subreddit is currently experiencing a large surge in racing bar charts,” moderator AskLubich said. “To make matters more transparent, we are now announcing a moratorium on racing bar charts.” “Unfortunately, some users took this as far as borderlining [sic] spam,” the moderator added. “Others took it beyond.” The announcement stresses this is only a temporary measure, which will be revoked once the trend slows down....
