The new ruling outlaws the use of facial recognition technology (FRT) — unless it’s used for crime fighting or judicial investigations. Currently, if you search for terms in your local language, you’ll get results of videos made in that language. But that might soon change. According to a report from Android Police, the video streaming giant is experimenting with a feature that you search across videos in all languages, using queries in your native language. The feature automatically translates the video title and description on the search page — both on the web interface and the mobile app....

Google recently announced it was augmenting its Digital Wellbeing features with a bedtime reminder. As the name suggests, it’s a setting that tells you to stop watching videos when a certain time hits. It’s only available on the app at the moment, but it’s nice to have the option. This complements an existing option on YouTube that reminds you to take a break after several intervals. It’s useful because YouTube is the kind of site where it’s very easy to fall down a rabbit hole and lose track of time....

Last week, Yuan sold $69.3 million worth of company shares to bring the total sum of cash raised by Zoom insiders this year to a tendon-twisting $581.33 million — more than half a billion dollars split between just 10 execs (and one fund). Yuan leads the video conferencing company’s 2020 leaderboard for stock dumps with $251 million, representing nearly half of all Zoom insider sales this year. Next is company director Carl Eschenbach, a partner at influential VC fund Sequoia Capital who’s made $96....
